Beautiful Belize

              In February I had the opportunity to spend a week in Ambergris Caye, Belize.  Upon arrival into Belize City airport, we were met by a representative from Tropic Air, our Belize island hopper. She ensured we boarded our 3 pm flight to Ambergris Caye. It was a beautiful flight, very smooth even though it was a 14 seater. Once on the island, we rented our vehicle for the week: a 6 passenger brand-new golf cart! This is the preferred mode of transportation.

              Our home for the week was the Xanadu Island resort, which was just a short walk to San Pedro Town. This property exceeded my expectations in many areas. The rooms were very clean, the resort staff was exceptional, and the location was convenient. Our week was spent snorkeling the reef, eating, touring the ruins, eating, reading, relaxing, eating, (I’m sure you get the idea).  All-inclusive resorts are not prevalent in Belize so we were able to try many local, fabulous restaurants.

If its night life and constant entertainment you’re after, Belize may not be a good fit for you. One example of San Pedro entertainment is the weekly “Chicken Drop” at the beachside Spindrift Lounge. Everyone gathers around an outside pen, placing their bets on which of the 100 squares the chicken will “drop” on. The crowd cheers, hoping the chicken will pick their number. The lucky winner gets to clean it up, and then gets the entire $100 pot! I told you they were short on entertainment in Belize!

Seriously it’s a great destination for diving, snorkeling, cave tubing, ziplining, birdwatching or just plain relaxing. Give Vicki a call to find out more about this Central American gem.
